Our adventurous journey into Ancient Egypt has allowed for many fun, hands-on opportunities. Our first activity using Year One Unit One with Tapestry of Grace was sculpting a relief map out of salt dough. The climate we live in hindered the drying process and so it took weeks to get to some level of having dried. Our patient waiting paid off. The kids had great fun! Here are a few photos of the painting process.

Looks awesome!! What a great project. I haven't heard of Tapestry of Grace, do you like it??
How funny that you are using TOG. I am thinking about it for next year with my twins (1st grade). How do you feel about using it for little people? With lots of extra little people under foot...
You and the littles did a great job on the salt dough map! What a terrific learning opportunity! Many blessings!
It looks wonderful, my sweeties. I hope you didn't try to taste it like your aunts and uncles (and possibly even your mommy) have at various times!
Love,
Moogie
How cool - I remember making one of these when I was in school. Maybe we can add this to our summer project list!!
How brilliant! I would never have thought of doing that - may have to use that idea at some stage!
Valerie - I LOVE Tapestry of Grace. It is so easy to adapt to each individual family. No cookie cutter curriculum.
Lora Lynn - I'm going to send you an email, but in a nutshell, it works great with lots of little people under foot. Ask me how I know. :-)
Thanks to all those for your sweet comments!
